Last night I had a brainstorm that I wanted to mimic the look of skid plate / checker plate metal on a sign. I figured something masculine like a Man Cave Sign would be simple design to test the effect. So I went into Corel Draw and designed the cut out type for the wood portion and then I worked on a skid plate design for stencil.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mBSBSmCadC4/VWYPJvc3S9I/AAAAAAAAJq8/rkYhUuPZC4g/s640/blogger-image--859086327.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-mBSBSmCadC4/VWYPJvc3S9I/AAAAAAAAJq8/rkYhUuPZC4g/s640/blogger-image--859086327.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I cut the wood section on the laser first, then the stencil overlay for the texture</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pIF_UzzbmMg/VWYPbsnPH8I/AAAAAAAAJr8/x8S6ilt6u5k/s640/blogger-image--1504223891.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-pIF_UzzbmMg/VWYPbsnPH8I/AAAAAAAAJr8/x8S6ilt6u5k/s640/blogger-image--1504223891.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
After the wood was cut I gave the piece a coat of Fusion Mineral Paint in the colour Ash.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cYWHh3o1Tqc/VWYPN2smoyI/AAAAAAAAJrM/uHA7U8d-OLM/s640/blogger-image--1910507262.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-cYWHh3o1Tqc/VWYPN2smoyI/AAAAAAAAJrM/uHA7U8d-OLM/s640/blogger-image--1910507262.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once the base coat was dry I tinted some Embossing Paste with Ash paint, you could also use the Silver metallic paint to tint the Embossing Paste.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0VCTYH0Ym4A/VWYPUKiyQ5I/AAAAAAAAJrk/wEpDHHFVvLY/s640/blogger-image--704492286.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-0VCTYH0Ym4A/VWYPUKiyQ5I/AAAAAAAAJrk/wEpDHHFVvLY/s640/blogger-image--704492286.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I secured my skid plate stencil over the sign.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-M8FJRojvRAY/VWYPSJr_IgI/AAAAAAAAJrc/cT2kNKjbizA/s640/blogger-image--1678761643.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-M8FJRojvRAY/VWYPSJr_IgI/AAAAAAAAJrc/cT2kNKjbizA/s640/blogger-image--1678761643.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I proceeded to "ice the cake", that's what is feels like haha! I applied the Embossing Plaster through the stencil and once I was happy with the coverage I lifted the stencil.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-VIg93k8ALtI/VWYPQMCDv9I/AAAAAAAAJrU/56CetKZ_Cz8/s640/blogger-image-2115991881.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-VIg93k8ALtI/VWYPQMCDv9I/AAAAAAAAJrU/56CetKZ_Cz8/s640/blogger-image-2115991881.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is what the piece looked like once I removed the stencil, kinda like a bad case of chicken pox but that's OK there are more stops to come!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PIc1B78wElQ/VWYPZGrgnjI/AAAAAAAAJr0/BS6QrVqlTvg/s640/blogger-image-1020580621.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-PIc1B78wElQ/VWYPZGrgnjI/AAAAAAAAJr0/BS6QrVqlTvg/s640/blogger-image-1020580621.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is an artsy side view to show the texture of the Embossing Paste.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-v-KImpnoLgI/VWYPLqcgUPI/AAAAAAAAJrE/7JF1Ec2GREM/s640/blogger-image--1746881687.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-v-KImpnoLgI/VWYPLqcgUPI/AAAAAAAAJrE/7JF1Ec2GREM/s640/blogger-image--1746881687.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
To remove the Embossing Past from the stencil I move the stencil on to a "throw away" surface like kraft paper or paper towel and scrape the paste off the stencil, after this the stencil just requires a quick wash and hang to dry (til next time)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ha2SBd1wr9Y/VWYPWx7qL_I/AAAAAAAAJrs/x8tgI9X2p1w/s640/blogger-image-1139644187.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-ha2SBd1wr9Y/VWYPWx7qL_I/AAAAAAAAJrs/x8tgI9X2p1w/s640/blogger-image-1139644187.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
I left the Embossing Paste to dry for around an hour, maybe a little more then I dry brushed some Fusion Metallic paint in Silver over the whole sign. Isn't it fun!</div>

I started this post a year ago and just realized I never finished it or published the post. Whoops!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i0Vic9Y-mtU/TOUvha2Z5II/AAAAAAAAAIM/Mlp-Ki4-0UM/s1600/KitchenPrimed2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-i0Vic9Y-mtU/TOUvha2Z5II/AAAAAAAAAIM/Mlp-Ki4-0UM/s1600/KitchenPrimed2.jpg" height="240" width="320" /></a></div>
Above is a picture of our kitchen when we first moved into our house in 2010 (the walls are primed in this picture, they were originally burgundy). We purchased the Oak swivel barstools off Kijiji. We don't have room for a dining room so our Kitchen Island is our table and good comfortable chairs were important. The stools were great at first but they have become a dropping spot for everything ... lunch bags, purse, courier packages, you name it! Arghhhhh! They were really bothering me so I started searching for new ones. Tada! I purchased a set of Tabouret metal barstools from <a href="http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Tabouret-24-inch-Metal-Counter-Stools-Set-of-2/3879160/product.html?refccid=5Y4AXHHO7NDJVICNZBN2NQLZNM&searchidx=231" target="_blank">Overstock </a>in black (the picture below is the metal finish)</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I LOVE them in black and with the Kitchen painted and foot rest on the island painted out in black they are going to look STUPENDOUS!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y78om3aLMPc/UikrDmZrEkI/AAAAAAAABnQ/7DCxDLLBdxg/s1600/Screen+Shot+2013-09-05+at+9.06.43+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Y78om3aLMPc/UikrDmZrEkI/AAAAAAAABnQ/7DCxDLLBdxg/s320/Screen+Shot+2013-09-05+at+9.06.43+PM.png" height="320" width="216" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
So after the new black barstools arrived we put the oaks tools in the back shed aka the Spider Den <i>creepy!</i>. The back shed has become a catch all for everything we don't want in the house as well as a home for wayward oversized spiders <i>ewwww!</i>. During a Spring clean out I decided to list the Oak stools on Kijiji, I even had a customer down to negotiations via email. That's when Frank confessed that he didn't like my cold black metal barstools and was much happier with the Oak ones. WHAT???? Say it isn't true. Hmmm, what to do?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-67HWMxiJGrM/UikXHTn0DWI/AAAAAAAABm0/0POkkDTEqAs/s1600/blogger-image-1433830849.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-67HWMxiJGrM/UikXHTn0DWI/AAAAAAAABm0/0POkkDTEqAs/s400/blogger-image-1433830849.jpg" height="400" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thought about them for a while. Well, actually, I lied awake at night stewing over what I could do to like these suckers again. Wait, what? Like them again? Ummmm, the 80's called and they want their barstools back! Then one Saturday morning I was reading my blog feed feeling envious of the all the great finds <i>other</i> bloggers kept finding in some relative's old barn. BOOM! that's it! I want these barstools to look like they had been sitting in the corner of an old barn (or back yard Spider condo in our case). I had used Miss Mustard Seed's Milk Paint on a couple of projects but I had always used bonding agent to help the paint adhere to the surface. In the past I had not been ready to give up control to the potential chippiness achieved by not adding bonding agent.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Oh boy Oh boy Oh boy! This is gonna be fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Wait! these are chairs with spindles, ugh!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Ya but they are going to be chippy.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyone else have these conversations with themselves?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--CFQily5ty4/UikWqh9Jr0I/AAAAAAAABmU/-owAzZqdRDs/s1600/blogger-image--494274820.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--CFQily5ty4/UikWqh9Jr0I/AAAAAAAABmU/-owAzZqdRDs/s1600/blogger-image--494274820.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
OMG! Look! it's starting to chip, yippee!!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bNMF4lPbh9Q/UikXFLZ8wuI/AAAAAAAABms/-0qo9CUuq_Y/s1600/blogger-image--1982697919.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bNMF4lPbh9Q/UikXFLZ8wuI/AAAAAAAABms/-0qo9CUuq_Y/s1600/blogger-image--1982697919.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the look I get from Molly B when I start jumping up and down with excitement.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
OK, I got so excited that I missed some steps in my pics. After the chipping started I sanded off the chips and got the chairs down to a smooth finish. Then I decided that the "so called barn" I found these old chairs in would be a Dairy Barn … yeah, that's it! So out comes my Dairyland Stencil!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pyeQIZIASKU/UikWbylhsoI/AAAAAAAABmE/H9DStMo6Efw/s1600/blogger-image-1382950147.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pyeQIZIASKU/UikWbylhsoI/AAAAAAAABmE/H9DStMo6Efw/s1600/blogger-image-1382950147.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I roughly stencilled the seat of each chair in a light grey. I wanted these to look old so I used very little paint.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wBkdIy4LhTI/UikXDHriTuI/AAAAAAAABmk/p_xB1llk7LM/s1600/blogger-image--1534907705.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-wBkdIy4LhTI/UikXDHriTuI/AAAAAAAABmk/p_xB1llk7LM/s1600/blogger-image--1534907705.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Look! Aren't they fun!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
OK, everything in the house is getting painted in chippy Milk Paint!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J5v1z1s-5ho/UikWf3u3BYI/AAAAAAAABmM/hrEOesSVZoY/s1600/blogger-image--96385020.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-J5v1z1s-5ho/UikWf3u3BYI/AAAAAAAABmM/hrEOesSVZoY/s1600/blogger-image--96385020.jpg" height="320" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I LOVE these stools now! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
When we finally get the kitchen finished I will take a picture of them in place.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
JoJo xo</div>

Do you love chalkboard art as much as I do?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Would you like to paint signs that look like Chalkboards?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I started with a board that I painted out in Black (see details below the image)</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-DiibyGmMxx4/U86Fi_hU9DI/AAAAAAAAB1s/nPc-NpT5Bu0/s640/blogger-image--713466370.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-DiibyGmMxx4/U86Fi_hU9DI/AAAAAAAAB1s/nPc-NpT5Bu0/s400/blogger-image--713466370.jpg" width="300" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">12 x 16 board painted with van Gogh Furniture Paintology Fossil Paint colour: Revenge</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-izwZuxW2a5Y/U86Fp45v-hI/AAAAAAAAB2E/HX1-sng3eNQ/s640/blogger-image-1434157348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-izwZuxW2a5Y/U86Fp45v-hI/AAAAAAAAB2E/HX1-sng3eNQ/s640/blogger-image-1434157348.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I attached my stencil with 2 pieces of tape wrapped around to the back so I can easily lift the stencil to check my progress. I call this hinging the stencil.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br /><div style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-izwZuxW2a5Y/U86Fp45v-hI/AAAAAAAAB2E/HX1-sng3eNQ/s640/blogger-image-1434157348.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RmCByyAp_FM/U86FknHrg7I/AAAAAAAAB10/4kQWLkVGaF4/s640/blogger-image-684353750.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-RmCByyAp_FM/U86FknHrg7I/AAAAAAAAB10/4kQWLkVGaF4/s640/blogger-image-684353750.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">See how easily the stencil lifts</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qgLqrSbU3ZE/U86FgpoUfAI/AAAAAAAAB1k/JB6sipFjM2I/s640/blogger-image--35848018.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-qgLqrSbU3ZE/U86FgpoUfAI/AAAAAAAAB1k/JB6sipFjM2I/s640/blogger-image--35848018.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This is the lid from my studio paint jar, I don't need much paint so I'm taking paint off the lid. I'm using the colour Chalk from van Gogh Furniture Paintology. I dip my brush in the paint, I swirl the brush on the plate to load the paint into the brush then I pounce the brush to remove excess paint. Remember, when stencilling it's easy to come back and add more paint but not as easy to remove excess. Less is best!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ve1GR_MzxoA/U86FmtTHxMI/AAAAAAAAB18/s0H4yDPaDK4/s640/blogger-image-473179497.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-ve1GR_MzxoA/U86FmtTHxMI/AAAAAAAAB18/s0H4yDPaDK4/s640/blogger-image-473179497.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">For a Chalkboard effect I pounce my brush up and down. I am using a larger stencil brush that has coarse bristles to get this effect. Also, you don't want to fill in the letter completely, apply less paint around the edges so the finished piece looks like you used dusty chalk. Normally when I stencil I like a firm soft brush that I can swirl in circles and get a soft blended effect but not on this one!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-tgxT7YyRG68/U86FryzHZMI/AAAAAAAAB2M/6WMcy1pwXho/s640/blogger-image-523314082.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-tgxT7YyRG68/U86FryzHZMI/AAAAAAAAB2M/6WMcy1pwXho/s640/blogger-image-523314082.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I painted the first letter and wanted to check before moving on, this is why I love hinging the stencil on the board … lift, check, lower and move on.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: center;">

I wanted to make it easier to embellish a piece of furniture or paint a sign. I some of the first items I created for customers were personalized signs, I am obsessed with adding a touch of personalization to creations.</div>

Most that I found on Kijiji were too small or plain. Then one day on Facebook I saw an Armoire that Kathy from <a href="http://www.karmafurniture.com/" target="_blank">Karma Fine Furnishings</a> had posted. My first thought was <i>"it's gonna be out of my budget"</i><br />
I did a happy dance when I found out it was in my budget and that it came in two pieces cus I had no idea how we would move it if it was one piece. The Armoire Gods were looking out for me, well and Kathy too since she negotiated a great price with the owner for me!<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here she is in her former glory ...</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EqGyNtq8CcE/Uhn6My3kKBI/AAAAAAAABks/WQRadcFgR5U/s1600/1174607_536633953073605_1204560691_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EqGyNtq8CcE/Uhn6My3kKBI/AAAAAAAABks/WQRadcFgR5U/s400/1174607_536633953073605_1204560691_n.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She has a patchwork like veneer which was starting to lift in a few areas. I knew I wanted to use van Gogh embossing plaster on it so I wasn't concerned.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Our next challenge was coming up with a theme for the piece. Overall we are trying to decorate our little bungalow with a Cottage/Beach feel. So initially I was looking at embossing a pattern of Ornamental grasses (sea oats) on the front, then I considered butterflies with a motivational saying. We kept coming back to the fact that it was a TV Armoire and we should give it a movie theme. In addition to that the piece reminded us of one you might see in a hotel room so we started googling Movie and Hotel themes and one of our favourite movies "Somewhere in Time" came up. Oh ya! That's it! Since this piece is for our personal use and not for sale we weren't worried about using graphics from the movie. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RqyjwB4NMpE/Uhn6ubi-huI/AAAAAAAABk4/XVt46plfkgg/s1600/Screen+Shot+2013-08-25+at+8.37.48+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RqyjwB4NMpE/Uhn6ubi-huI/AAAAAAAABk4/XVt46plfkgg/s320/Screen+Shot+2013-08-25+at+8.37.48+AM.png" width="226" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is the inspiration for one of stencil images.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oq5q2GKohik/Uhn8ToBmVCI/AAAAAAAABlE/xPlXKJR3NaQ/s1600/Screen+Shot+2013-08-25+at+8.40.40+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-oq5q2GKohik/Uhn8ToBmVCI/AAAAAAAABlE/xPlXKJR3NaQ/s320/Screen+Shot+2013-08-25+at+8.40.40+AM.png" width="238" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I traced the image, rearranged it to fit one of the Armoire doors then I bridged it to create a stencil.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the right hand door we decided to use a nostalgic logo for the Grand Hotel which is the setting for the movie.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g3SUSeg1nXQ/Uhn4pVRGeqI/AAAAAAAABic/_NVCTWRKS2g/s1600/blogger-image--257805190.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-g3SUSeg1nXQ/Uhn4pVRGeqI/AAAAAAAABic/_NVCTWRKS2g/s400/blogger-image--257805190.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used an Ultra Cut stencil material which has a sticky back, I tend to use this for large embossing plaster projects and for one time use.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mRZTHhBRLd8/Uhn45Y7qcoI/AAAAAAAABjU/k6TGDrlTv1E/s1600/blogger-image--944327293.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mRZTHhBRLd8/Uhn45Y7qcoI/AAAAAAAABjU/k6TGDrlTv1E/s320/blogger-image--944327293.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I applied the plaster, I learn from every project I do, we should have removed the doors first and worked on a horizontal surface. It was a hot day so the plaster wanted to run a little when applied on a vertical surface. No worries, all worked out OK.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-DoY5DCupK5g/Uhn4wIs8F1I/AAAAAAAABiw/xILQ9mlzCnk/s640/blogger-image--424944744.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-DoY5DCupK5g/Uhn4wIs8F1I/AAAAAAAABiw/xILQ9mlzCnk/s640/blogger-image--424944744.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Oh, did I mention that I painted the whole Armoire in van Gogh paint, the colour is Halo.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is not the final colour but I wanted to distress through to white and wood in my final finish.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Above is the piece painted white, and the embossing plaster applied.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-GC5KNpuIFmY/Uhn496ox9kI/AAAAAAAABjg/ukkRlzqvwhI/s640/blogger-image--1188317645.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-GC5KNpuIFmY/Uhn496ox9kI/AAAAAAAABjg/ukkRlzqvwhI/s640/blogger-image--1188317645.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a closer shot of the embossing plaster which shows the areas where the plaster ran a bit in the heat (see Elise's tear). I gave the embossing plaster a light sand to remove any sharp points before painting over.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b5451YxngAQ/Uhn4t9SAJCI/AAAAAAAABio/8yguxBfgb4M/s640/blogger-image-1662031307.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-b5451YxngAQ/Uhn4t9SAJCI/AAAAAAAABio/8yguxBfgb4M/s320/blogger-image-1662031307.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the doors with one coat of paint over the plaster.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FHB7fpIUe8k/Uhn5ANyj3DI/AAAAAAAABjo/_C6dBQSn7hI/s640/blogger-image-479998095.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FHB7fpIUe8k/Uhn5ANyj3DI/AAAAAAAABjo/_C6dBQSn7hI/s640/blogger-image-479998095.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
At this point I decided life would be a lot easier if the doors were removed for distressing and so I could paint the interior of the unit. This image above is after the piece is painted and distressed to show the embossed image. BTW, this van Gogh colour is one of our Muddaritaville Signature colours called Beach Glass. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h1kQ1662XJo/Uhn40kIi3lI/AAAAAAAABjA/cXOfJSVr-VY/s640/blogger-image--198698806.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h1kQ1662XJo/Uhn40kIi3lI/AAAAAAAABjA/cXOfJSVr-VY/s320/blogger-image--198698806.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This image shows the interior painted with van Gogh Revenge which is a gorgeous black. I wanted the TV and components to blend into the background. I cured the doors with Chalk so they could be used as Chalkboards for messages. I did not apply any topcoat to the interior at all! I might regret this in the component area as it might be harder to keep dust free (I'll let ya know)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's door #1 with a message. I think I'm going to invest in some Chalk Markers, I broke the chalk about 5 times drawing this little message and there was chalk dust everywhere!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
According to Frank I should change the above message daily, yup, I'm right on that!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-JSM7ZhQZhNk/Uhn4nAC4a0I/AAAAAAAABiQ/GSVs08JGY2Y/s640/blogger-image--237607950.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-JSM7ZhQZhNk/Uhn4nAC4a0I/AAAAAAAABiQ/GSVs08JGY2Y/s640/blogger-image--237607950.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The doors don't stay open like this they fold right back but this gives you an idea of how the black interior works with the components.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-el8o4kDQcrI/Uhn6M7daMqI/AAAAAAAABkc/nfed7hB0DLk/s1600/1148907_536633869740280_177730427_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-el8o4kDQcrI/Uhn6M7daMqI/AAAAAAAABkc/nfed7hB0DLk/s640/1148907_536633869740280_177730427_n.jpg" width="474" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
To finish the piece I wet distressed to expose the white base coat, and some wood, then I applied van Gogh Cabinet Glaze. I could leave it like this the Cabinet Glaze is suitable as a top coat.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I may work with the glaze a bit more and maybe apply wax too but for now I'm happy to live with it a while. Heck, it only took 4 months to get it to this point!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B5pGZa7SV2k/UhoR0UbMLDI/AAAAAAAABlQ/RL0A20ddtBI/s1600/Somewhereintime.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-B5pGZa7SV2k/UhoR0UbMLDI/AAAAAAAABlQ/RL0A20ddtBI/s640/Somewhereintime.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

Just before I started work on a recent Test board Frank suggested that I make it a piece of art that could potentially accessorize the sideboard we were about to paint. Brilliant! I had been working on some new stencil art based on an image transfer from the <a href="http://www.graphicsfairy-diy.com/2012/10/iron-on-image-french-typography.html" target="_blank">Graphics Fairy</a>, so I decided to test it on this piece. Do you love the Graphics Fairy as much as I do?<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hNxp2rPrDL0/USIs69ABrHI/AAAAAAAABaU/Vzhv0SDScH4/s640/blogger-image--272689492.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-hNxp2rPrDL0/USIs69ABrHI/AAAAAAAABaU/Vzhv0SDScH4/s640/blogger-image--272689492.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I painted a Restore cabinet door in Balsamic first, once it was dry I placed my stencil. For this stencil I used a sticky back 8.5 mil Ultra Mask material.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-gKlsaUardpI/USItAXMMM4I/AAAAAAAABas/MUn2AgTcKX8/s640/blogger-image-366857972.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-gKlsaUardpI/USItAXMMM4I/AAAAAAAABas/MUn2AgTcKX8/s640/blogger-image-366857972.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the cabinet with the embossing plaster in place, now it's time to let it dry. This is a large area so it took about 3 hours for the plaster to dry.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-9SL6G8BlO5s/USItC5OwDII/AAAAAAAABa0/SkHhMmxdB2k/s640/blogger-image--1300950925.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-9SL6G8BlO5s/USItC5OwDII/AAAAAAAABa0/SkHhMmxdB2k/s640/blogger-image--1300950925.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
After the plaster dried I gave it a coat of Revenge (black)</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FkLdSoyhrbA/USIs2xYnhbI/AAAAAAAABaE/PF774_MlrkQ/s640/blogger-image--254145933.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-FkLdSoyhrbA/USIs2xYnhbI/AAAAAAAABaE/PF774_MlrkQ/s640/blogger-image--254145933.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the Revenge dried I gave the piece a coat of Muddaritaville's studio colour "Sangria" it's a burgundy red. I love the translucent quality of this. I left this overnight to dry.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8Kh67MnNDpI/USIs8kMCMMI/AAAAAAAABac/Pi6GCIQM8aM/s640/blogger-image--353034931.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-8Kh67MnNDpI/USIs8kMCMMI/AAAAAAAABac/Pi6GCIQM8aM/s640/blogger-image--353034931.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I then gave the piece a coat of Cashmere (which I later changed to Muse but I didn't photograph those steps) Isn't it funny when you go through a stage of not liking your results you stop taking pictures. Oh well, not to worry, we got it back on track!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wEug98qh7oM/USIs-Y3bffI/AAAAAAAABak/1eezXNdseFs/s640/blogger-image--1780993590.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-wEug98qh7oM/USIs-Y3bffI/AAAAAAAABak/1eezXNdseFs/s640/blogger-image--1780993590.jpg" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the final reveal, with Muse as the top coat of paint, then distressed and waxed.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-7Bh077-6i_k/USIs5HvB5kI/AAAAAAAABaM/8bwedZq3oTg/s640/blogger-image-753359262.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-7Bh077-6i_k/USIs5HvB5kI/AAAAAAAABaM/8bwedZq3oTg/s640/blogger-image-753359262.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Isn't it fun?! My passion is in working on pieces like this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

I saw Donna was having a Grain Sack party and I had to join in! Grain Sacks were my inspiration for this piece.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We purchased this coffee table just after moving into our house 2.5 years ago. It was a Kijiji deal from the same seller we purchased our Ektorp sofas from, the coffee table and matching end table were $40. The are really sturdy and REALLY ugly! I've been threatening to paint them since Day 1 but my vision for them kept changing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b-RCTap4bLs/UHg6YCO4gxI/AAAAAAAABP4/GkenJDVjWNE/s1600/blogger-image-695114840.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b-RCTap4bLs/UHg6YCO4gxI/AAAAAAAABP4/GkenJDVjWNE/s320/blogger-image-695114840.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here she is ... So Pretty, ummm nope, but useful yes!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I started by giving the table a really good clean. The table has a checkboard wood pattern on the top and I wanted to minimize that from showing through so I decided to sand the surface. Then I turned the table on it's side and painted the sides and legs with van Gogh Chalk paint (vGCP) in Bole.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KusRlAEa3dI/UPgaXy3g3YI/AAAAAAAABWs/GSBuDn_nSx8/s1600/blogger-image-2107342592.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-KusRlAEa3dI/UPgaXy3g3YI/AAAAAAAABWs/GSBuDn_nSx8/s400/blogger-image-2107342592.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Once the base was dry I let it sit for ummm 2 weeks. Yep! Every day I got more and more frustrated with the lack of space in our laundry room, aka The Studio. Ahhh! are you freakin kidding me. Note in the picture above right side is our dryer, I have about 10" between the dryer and the edge of the table. Anyway after Christmas I finally got my S*!t together and decided to paint the top. First I gave it a coat of vGCP in Cashmere, once that was dry I rolled on Serenity one strip at a time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gbHqGJBesFw/UPgaqTWfFNI/AAAAAAAABYE/sM8kPlT5iA0/s1600/blogger-image-1251325397.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-gbHqGJBesFw/UPgaqTWfFNI/AAAAAAAABYE/sM8kPlT5iA0/s320/blogger-image-1251325397.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mvuBef5jT2U/UPgaeGUDpdI/AAAAAAAABXM/r6OHXJw46FA/s1600/blogger-image-1705702251.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mvuBef5jT2U/UPgaeGUDpdI/AAAAAAAABXM/r6OHXJw46FA/s320/blogger-image-1705702251.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
While the Serenity was still wet I dragged a Kitchen Scrubby through the paint to create a look of a burlap sack.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-TjwLokUbm0M/UPgh7G3v82I/AAAAAAAABYc/cjlAhGhjwrE/s640/blogger-image-148123186.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-TjwLokUbm0M/UPgh7G3v82I/AAAAAAAABYc/cjlAhGhjwrE/s640/blogger-image-148123186.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I created a stencil for the stripes, I'm too impatient to tape out the lines. I taped a guide line on the table so I didn't end up with lines that weren't straight (I do not trust myself to be accurate).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-T3NcnpAs1XI/UPgjl1JZvxI/AAAAAAAABY0/M67oqoCBJm4/s640/blogger-image-175652808.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-T3NcnpAs1XI/UPgjl1JZvxI/AAAAAAAABY0/M67oqoCBJm4/s320/blogger-image-175652808.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UKGT5gOWkr8/UPgabBC2KRI/AAAAAAAABW8/MlfDmrZwPrk/s1600/blogger-image-1300373400.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UKGT5gOWkr8/UPgabBC2KRI/AAAAAAAABW8/MlfDmrZwPrk/s320/blogger-image-1300373400.jpg" width="273" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once the stripes were complete I felt the burlap sack effect was not strong enough, so I took out the RL Linen effect brush and dry brushed the base paint Cashmere over Serenity in a cross hatch pattern. That's better!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y-mJVvLjrUg/UPgactCNWRI/AAAAAAAABXE/GcTACBwyAiI/s1600/blogger-image--2028709577.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-y-mJVvLjrUg/UPgactCNWRI/AAAAAAAABXE/GcTACBwyAiI/s400/blogger-image--2028709577.jpg" width="342" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Next I added a Kona Coffee Logo, I created a stencil for this too.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Do you see my mistake here? I didn't notice it until I was waxing the table. Once the stencil was dry I lightly distressed the stencilled areas and table top.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n13Cp_4NSGY/UPgao9DQjrI/AAAAAAAABX8/U1tIz-boX_Y/s1600/blogger-image--797728363.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n13Cp_4NSGY/UPgao9DQjrI/AAAAAAAABX8/U1tIz-boX_Y/s320/blogger-image--797728363.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-INYNWVBTsKM/UPgaf1uztII/AAAAAAAABXU/XMqdtmYFyJQ/s1600/blogger-image-1983385228.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-INYNWVBTsKM/UPgaf1uztII/AAAAAAAABXU/XMqdtmYFyJQ/s320/blogger-image-1983385228.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Now can you see the mistake? When I weeded my stencil I didn't remove the period after the U so I had to realign the stencil and fix it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JNWHbd7pqeQ/UPgamvPyVGI/AAAAAAAABX0/7NovpvnhBhQ/s1600/blogger-image--862310195.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-JNWHbd7pqeQ/UPgamvPyVGI/AAAAAAAABX0/7NovpvnhBhQ/s400/blogger-image--862310195.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
All Fixed!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yTGjZuKPVPo/UPgaZWWQQaI/AAAAAAAABW0/RVFkf9y_sA8/s1600/blogger-image--1743479665.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yTGjZuKPVPo/UPgaZWWQQaI/AAAAAAAABW0/RVFkf9y_sA8/s320/blogger-image--1743479665.jpg" width="240" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NQbsrgYUtH4/UPgajCPNUQI/AAAAAAAABXk/ujrbsWx62FQ/s1600/blogger-image--1022322806.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-NQbsrgYUtH4/UPgajCPNUQI/AAAAAAAABXk/ujrbsWx62FQ/s320/blogger-image--1022322806.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My original intention was to wax the base and use Table Top finish on the top where the daily use happens. Do you do anything different when finishing pieces the you are selling compared to those you plan on keeping? We have a new puppy so we don't really put much on the table right now, well other then our feet now& then. I love the wax finish so I decided to wax the top of the table. I used both clear and dark wax.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-x1ELIDFIx2c/UPgq-3p0wZI/AAAAAAAABZU/oh3PU3L0ocs/s640/blogger-image--913420345.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-x1ELIDFIx2c/UPgq-3p0wZI/AAAAAAAABZU/oh3PU3L0ocs/s640/blogger-image--913420345.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is a shot of the top of the table, I still need to add more wax but I ran out! Yep, this wax is so great I sold out, and I'm OK with that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZgZNvy87WeM/UKb0mEZiEZI/AAAAAAAABTg/Hf81KUpBpx8/s640/blogger-image--952415587.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-ZgZNvy87WeM/UKb0mEZiEZI/AAAAAAAABTg/Hf81KUpBpx8/s640/blogger-image--952415587.jpg" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Isn't she cute! She's going to be Stunning! Can't you just hear Bruno from Dancing with the Stars ... Stunning! Actually she has the Leg of a dancer, too bad she only has one.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />
I broke out the van Gogh Chalk Paint in Chivalry, Chalk and Mama's Boy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />

I painted the drawer on our kitchen island while listening to Sophia Lauren and Cary Grant in the movie Houseboat, every once and a while I would watch a little of it. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nHsWElPOTg0/UKb0jh6uFaI/AAAAAAAABTA/iucJgA_-K8E/s1600/blogger-image--2083373709.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-nHsWElPOTg0/UKb0jh6uFaI/AAAAAAAABTA/iucJgA_-K8E/s320/blogger-image--2083373709.jpg" width="320" /></a></div> Here she is painted and the base and apron have been distressed, she's smooth as buttah!<br />
Oh btw, every time I work on this table I think of Sophia Lauren so I'm calling her Sophia.<br />

Online search to the rescue and I found a lady who had 2 brand new slipcovers available ... yay!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sZ6WKlrWUMQ/UHg4h0vth1I/AAAAAAAABPo/5xPO3ZXoQiE/s1600/blogger-image-36582079.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-sZ6WKlrWUMQ/UHg4h0vth1I/AAAAAAAABPo/5xPO3ZXoQiE/s320/blogger-image-36582079.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This is what the every day living room looks like, nope I didn't tidy or dust!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Believe it or not the walls are butter cookie yellow but the current slipcovers don't help the wall colour.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PqUvLzawkEo/UHg4iSjgbLI/AAAAAAAABPw/0HfylHv2Ftw/s1600/blogger-image--69147279.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="276" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-PqUvLzawkEo/UHg4iSjgbLI/AAAAAAAABPw/0HfylHv2Ftw/s320/blogger-image--69147279.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This the a quick peek of the new blue slipcover, with one of my existing throw cushions.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The blue in the cushion matches the new slipcover but it doesn't light my fire, it's kinda blah.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also have some dark denim throw cushions.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b-RCTap4bLs/UHg6YCO4gxI/AAAAAAAABP4/GkenJDVjWNE/s1600/blogger-image-695114840.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-b-RCTap4bLs/UHg6YCO4gxI/AAAAAAAABP4/GkenJDVjWNE/s320/blogger-image-695114840.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then there's this exquisite piece of furniture (finger down throat)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I picked it up real cheap, with a matching end table. It's been waiting for it's reinvention for 2 years now. What? I've been waiting on new slipcovers. I was between the blue or white slipcovers.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Since we now have a new puppy that Frank invites on the sofa I just could not do white, I'd be washing the cushion covers ALL the time!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The PLAN for this table is a grain sack feel with either Red or Blue stripes.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The colour we choose for the throw cushion fabric will determine the stripe and graphic colour on the coffee table.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
See my problem, one decision based on the last, if I hold up on one it puts everything on delay.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've had a love affair with Toile for some time and have not used any decorating this home and I'm still not sure if I will use any traditional toile - you will help me decide ...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hstYtull-Vw/UHg9fSEuFNI/AAAAAAAABQU/Qc_3EJozkxQ/s1600/Screen+shot+2012-10-12+at+11.53.14+AM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="192" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hstYtull-Vw/UHg9fSEuFNI/AAAAAAAABQU/Qc_3EJozkxQ/s400/Screen+shot+2012-10-12+at+11.53.14+AM.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are my red choices, I was thinking I could do the front of the cushion in toile (left side) or the french stamp option (left side) and the back of the cushion with the ticking fabric (middle).</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8z751NIK_bE/UHg-AcbDmiI/AAAAAAAABQc/Xwn3U1QPoEc/s1600/blogger-image--1173048243.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-8z751NIK_bE/UHg-AcbDmiI/AAAAAAAABQc/Xwn3U1QPoEc/s320/blogger-image--1173048243.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This gas fireplace is my reason for wanting to add a pop of red to the room.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VwNxCkSJbww/UHg_J9LleuI/AAAAAAAABQs/fAu_EnJ0UWg/s1600/Screen+shot+2012-10-12+at+12.01.56+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="142" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VwNxCkSJbww/UHg_J9LleuI/AAAAAAAABQs/fAu_EnJ0UWg/s400/Screen+shot+2012-10-12+at+12.01.56+PM.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The other direction I was considering is the yellow/blue toile to pick up the yellow walls.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
the back of the cushion would be gingham, I'm leaning toward the blue.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What do you like? Red Toile, Red French Stamp, Yellow&Blue Toile with yellow or blue gingham back?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I had a scrap piece of wood that would be perfect for a small sign. I measured it, then gave it a base coat of van Gogh Chalk paint in Buttah.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BIh_Ojaoy8c/UG2wIiZ98nI/AAAAAAAABOo/UH74awsaR9Y/s1600/blogger-image--777814113.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-BIh_Ojaoy8c/UG2wIiZ98nI/AAAAAAAABOo/UH74awsaR9Y/s320/blogger-image--777814113.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While the Buttah (I love that name!) was drying, I went into my Silhouette Studio and started designing what I wanted to put on this piece. I have so many signs with words and sayings and honestly I could have them all over the house but I wanted a graphic option on this one. I decided on a couple of birds sitting on a tree branch. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Once the Buttah dried, I put the painted wood piece on the shelf and felt the yellow might be a little too bright for what I wanted so I put a coat of Muse over it. Muse would pick up the warmer tones in the faux brick on this wall. Meanwhile the conversation in my head was bouncing back and forth between a graphic image and a saying (I have SO many sayings I want to paint). Then a light bulb went on! Yep, I still have it! Why not paint something on each side and I can turn it around a show the side I feel like seeing on any given day. Cool huh?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fKL5ppiRa3s/UG2wLcBCg8I/AAAAAAAABPA/t1RIf98AoqI/s1600/blogger-image--98297765.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-fKL5ppiRa3s/UG2wLcBCg8I/AAAAAAAABPA/t1RIf98AoqI/s320/blogger-image--98297765.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So, I cut out the saying Believe in yourself and the Birds on a branch image, weeded them, applied the transfer tape and applied the first one to the painted wood. Once on the wood I stenciled them with the Starry Night.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t0ZraW7faQg/UG2wM48tpFI/AAAAAAAABPQ/aR51fmFJtqM/s1600/blogger-image-909782797.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-t0ZraW7faQg/UG2wM48tpFI/AAAAAAAABPQ/aR51fmFJtqM/s320/blogger-image-909782797.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I let the paint dry slightly before peeling back the vinyl stencil </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BClykfiAK8g/UG2wMH5L3DI/AAAAAAAABPI/HzZ544eURNQ/s1600/blogger-image-1199191027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-BClykfiAK8g/UG2wMH5L3DI/AAAAAAAABPI/HzZ544eURNQ/s320/blogger-image-1199191027.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once completely dry I applied the van Gogh clear wax ... OMG this wax is
heaven! It smells like honey and had me craving toast with Buttah and
Honey! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YC1K7XTpiZE/UG2wIZlv0aI/AAAAAAAABOg/46MSYyx-uow/s1600/blogger-image--1208150621.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-YC1K7XTpiZE/UG2wIZlv0aI/AAAAAAAABOg/46MSYyx-uow/s320/blogger-image--1208150621.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I waited til the next morning and applied some dark wax, rubbed it in and called it a day!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are the finished signs up on the shelf</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I approach things with a positive attitude and I knew that something better was going to come along. I had no idea it was going to be this good - Yep I'm so excited! Why you ask? The person behind all my excitement is a lady by the name of Kathy Van Gogh. Kathy is a decorative painter who has launched her own line of chalk paints manufactured right here in Canada. I am thrilled and honoured to become the Ontario distributor of Kathy's fabulous paints. I have started playing around with the paint on some of my own projects, I'll soon have a website launched for online sales but I'm also looking to assist Ontario retailers who would like to sell this paint and host workshops in their stores.<br />
<br />
Following is the chart with available colours in van Gogh Chalk Paint, I will be working on some hand painted swatches that I will share once they are complete.<br />
<br />

<br />
This week I cracked open the paint to do a couple of small projects. I repainted my mantle shelf, painted my barn star and did a little 2 sided sign for the mantle shelf. I love that this paint sticks to all surfaces without priming!<br />
<br />
Here's my barn star in progress<br />

I'm going to show you the sign I made in another post - stay tuned!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hi! My name is Molly Brown.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm 11 weeks old today and my human parents think I'm pretty smart.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm learning so much, like there is this big white thing with doors in the kitchen that my humans keep opening and food comes out of it! How kewl is that! This morning I tried to open it myself by biting it but that didn't work. Sometimes when it's open I can run in and lick the bottles on the bottom shelf. And and there's this big square thing in the middle of the room where my humans sit all the time. they put food and drinks on it, I think Mom called it a coffee table, well the other day I was able to put both of my front paws on it but Mom said "Off!". That's just weird, if Dad can put his feet on it, why can't I? There are a lot of rules around here but I'm doing really good learning them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<object class="BLOGGER-youtube-video" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,40,0" data-thumbnail-src="http://i.ytimg.com/vi/65uXN_mjats/0.jpg" height="266" width="320"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/65uXN_mjats?version=3&f=user_uploads&c=google-webdrive-0&app=youtube_gdata" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#FFFFFF" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><embed width="320" height="266" src="http://www.youtube.com/v/65uXN_mjats?version=3&f=user_uploads&c=google-webdrive-0&app=youtube_gdata" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object></div>
<br />
I have lots of fun stuff to chew on and attack, don't tell Mom but I'd rather chase Dad's feet and pull his shoelaces. Well, it's better then pulling his finger like some kids do with their Dad ... ewwww!<br />

<br />
I haven't posted lately and haven't worked on any projects for a while. Come Fall I will have lots to share! I want to take the opportunity on this post to update the year so far.<br />
<br />
The end of March we said good bye to our best friend and companion Buddy. We've had Buddy since he was 3 years old, he was a rescue dog. The term rescue dog is often misinterpreted, if you choose to adopt a dog from a shelter they will spend the rest of their days <i>rescuing you</i>! <br />
Buddy the miracle dog was diagnosed with Bladder Cancer in 2005 and we were told to take him home, make him comfortable since he only had about a month left with us. I use to love burying my nose in the fur on his head when I hugged him, I know it sounds odd (especially to people who find dogs stinky) Bud had a perfume scent to his fur. No really, he did. We can learn so much from our dogs, Buddy didn't know the vet said he had a month left to his life so he lived 7 years after being diagnosed. He was good most of the time except for the occasion flare up of whatever was going on in his bladder. If I had a dollar for every time Frank wanted to give Bud a special treat like ground beef with his dinner ... Frank would say "he's not well you know!" haha! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KDY4m-mgmz0/UCeiX0oagZI/AAAAAAAABKA/LWyBGp-UhQ0/s1600/Bud.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KDY4m-mgmz0/UCeiX0oagZI/AAAAAAAABKA/LWyBGp-UhQ0/s320/Bud.JPG" width="273" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">We miss you Budman, you will always be in our hearts!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">My work has been rocky for years, I've lost track of company names and mergers. Ok, maybe I haven't lost track ... 4. I've worked with this company for 17 years and the 4 name changes have taken place over the last 6 years ... yup 6 years, 4 names! The 4th buyout was announced the end of last year but took awhile for the transaction to be completed. Anywho, once it was complete we were informed that our offices would be merged with another that was 50 kilometers (31 miles) away. For locals, our office was in Markham, Ontario and the new location is in Mississauga, Ontario. Yikes! my new commute will be 125 kilometers one way! I had already moved once for this company due to a division merge 6 years ago. Should I consider moving again? I started looking at Real Estate listings and potential areas to move that would reduce the drive time. The plan to move came to a crashing halt on April 9th when I was called into the boardroom with 15 - 20 other people where we were informed that we would not be making the move to the new location on June 1st. <i>(I missed the part in the meeting when they said a few will be required to stay on a little longer)</i> I came out of that meeting excited that I would not have to do that awful 2 hour drive one way to the new location. Yay! I get the summer off! Hmmm, I better open the envelope they gave me and check out the terms. WHAT!!! this can't be right, my last day is August 31st. Say it ain't so! UGH! you mean, you don't want me anymore but hey I need to drive 250 kilometers a day for 3 months for an employer who does not require my services anymore. Cruel and unusual punishment!!! My friend Barb from the blog <a href="http://turtlesandtails.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Turtles and Tails</a> received the same letter. Crazy!</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">I'm in count down mode 19 more sleeps til I'm done. The drive is draining the energy from me. I'm finally training some one to do my job once I'm gone.</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">What does the future hold? </div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: left;">This precious fur baby is going to be part of family in a few weeks! She is a Blue Merle Rough Collie and we will be calling her Molly Brown (along with many nicknames ... Molly Collie, Molly Blue, Molly McButter Pants)</div><div style="text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xzo9a2ctxQs/UCer8joVYMI/AAAAAAAABKY/kqv-9lOIpn0/s1600/IMG00492-20120811-1906.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Xzo9a2ctxQs/UCer8joVYMI/AAAAAAAABKY/kqv-9lOIpn0/s320/IMG00492-20120811-1906.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Isn't she sweet?</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div>As I mentioned above, I will be unemployed as of August 31st. My dream is to take Muddaritaville full time. Included in my business plan is Sign Painting, Furniture Painting/Upcycling, I would love to be a reseller of line of furniture paint like CeCe Caldwells &/or Miss Mustard Seeds Milk Paint and teach application of these 2 products. I would also like to purchase Dye Sublimation equipment for creating many different personalized items. <br />
<br />
Stay tuned, lots of changes coming ... 19 more sleeps!Muddaritavillehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05392383901411916041noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2117989595503078755.post-3353553610198629922012-06-18T21:09:00.001-04:002012-06-23T12:19:02.456-04:00Bed and Breakfast Sign Knock OffI pinned this sign recently, I loved it and knew I had to make one!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://pinterest.com/pin/24840235415163223/" target="_blank"><img border="0" height="322" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IPI3OxYgFw4/T99ScaKck9I/AAAAAAAABFk/_RTEQxKZW2E/s400/Screen+shot+2012-06-12+at+8.41.34+PM.png" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This past weekend I was going on a Ladies Weekend to a friend's cottage and had been trying to decide what I would take as a hostess gift. (insert light bulb turning on here) This sign would be perfect!!!<br />
So I set out to start designing my version of this using Silhouette Studio.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rq5TUeqesUg/T99VyG32U1I/AAAAAAAABFw/77GfUMkV_7w/s1600/Screen+shot+2012-06-12+at+8.40.06+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Rq5TUeqesUg/T99VyG32U1I/AAAAAAAABFw/77GfUMkV_7w/s400/Screen+shot+2012-06-12+at+8.40.06+PM.png" width="355" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a screen capture which shows how the type fits into the shape I was working with. I had cut out half of the sign outline and traced it onto press board. Frank used the Jigsaw and cut out the shape for me, he also sanded the edges for me. When I cut the lettering out I left the sign outline so I would have a guideline for lining up on the wood.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JsxPgGDpZsI/T99d9DaKZVI/AAAAAAAABIk/mQaHHYF3w-I/s1600/IMG_0641.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-JsxPgGDpZsI/T99d9DaKZVI/AAAAAAAABIk/mQaHHYF3w-I/s400/IMG_0641.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In the meantime, I painted the board out in black, then gave it a coat of watered down elmers glue so the next layer would crackle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9vmgX-uy2fk/T9-8lOIex9I/AAAAAAAABJQ/KLjI7MRwkTY/s1600/IMG_0642.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-9vmgX-uy2fk/T9-8lOIex9I/AAAAAAAABJQ/KLjI7MRwkTY/s400/IMG_0642.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I painted over the black with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Old White, let it dry so it would crack. When the paint was still a little damp I scraped some areas for heavy distressing, then sanded the whole sign and focusing on the edges.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wo53wg90m2w/T9_OI4fJRWI/AAAAAAAABJw/IK6P9l656Dg/s1600/IMG_0646.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-Wo53wg90m2w/T9_OI4fJRWI/AAAAAAAABJw/IK6P9l656Dg/s400/IMG_0646.jpg" width="385" /></a></div>
One of the best things I have learned for script fonts especially is using good quality vinyl for my stencils and the right cut setting is key to fast weeding of the vinyl. I also like using a dark vinyl so I can see the weeded letters better.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZlY-9T3XIKA/T9--KY47sPI/AAAAAAAABJs/OSPYlR0ZycQ/s1600/IMG_0647.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZlY-9T3XIKA/T9--KY47sPI/AAAAAAAABJs/OSPYlR0ZycQ/s400/IMG_0647.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
I forgot to take a picture while painting. Here is the painted sign propped up outside so I can varnish. Boy do I need a studio space!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2rCYKEVJEoE/T9-2Kwm92-I/AAAAAAAABIY/u7RWxVgKGug/s1600/182838_434211359932889_178852156_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="355" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2rCYKEVJEoE/T9-2Kwm92-I/AAAAAAAABIY/u7RWxVgKGug/s400/182838_434211359932889_178852156_n.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is the final sign hanging in it's new home!<br />

</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
When I saw that Funky Junk's SNS 138 was featuring Pallets and Reclaimed Wood projects I had to repost this project, it's one of my favs to date and I'm looking forward to doing more like it. I think it was a post that Donna did a while back on how to select the right pallet for a project that started my obsession. I'm very luck to have a good friend in the printing business and he now sets aside pallets that he thinks will work for my projects.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here is the post on my pallet project ...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OT76xN5Vgkk/T6gFFbt48qI/AAAAAAAABDk/5JcSCNC1Kjk/s1600/IMG_0430.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="220" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OT76xN5Vgkk/T6gFFbt48qI/AAAAAAAABDk/5JcSCNC1Kjk/s320/IMG_0430.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
I have been obsessing over pallets and distressed wood lately. Pinterest has just been adding fuel to the fire. Initially I wanted to cover one complete wall in the living room with pallet boards, or Piet Hein Eek scrapwood wallpaper which is totally out of my budget! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oNtVUqJfpBM/T2Mq_uIolaI/AAAAAAAABAY/LqpkMqwtOG0/s1600/piet-hein-eek-scrapwood02-600x366.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="195" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-oNtVUqJfpBM/T2Mq_uIolaI/AAAAAAAABAY/LqpkMqwtOG0/s320/piet-hein-eek-scrapwood02-600x366.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://trendland.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/piet-hein-eek-scrapwood02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />
</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love this wallpaper!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Anyho, I recently asked my favourite Printer, Jim, what he does with all the Pallets that come into his building. He told me he either returns them or trashes them ... WHAT???? They're treasure I told him, I must look at them. So Frank came with me and the first beauty we set our eyes on was this one ...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n41VFYUARx4/T2KNiyspUpI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/3QS4eqQSOzo/s1600/IMG_0401.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-n41VFYUARx4/T2KNiyspUpI/AAAAAAAAA8Y/3QS4eqQSOzo/s320/IMG_0401.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love her! I must have her! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
She stayed in the back of my car for a few days, while I pondered what her future would be.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5kIPuW78vDQ/T2KZyvK9DQI/AAAAAAAABAI/cIih0EjJDd8/s1600/Screen+shot+2012-03-07+at+8.29.03+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-5kIPuW78vDQ/T2KZyvK9DQI/AAAAAAAABAI/cIih0EjJDd8/s320/Screen+shot+2012-03-07+at+8.29.03+PM.png" width="278" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Then I received this image in an email from Joss & Main.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
There's another image at their site with this clock resting against a skid/pallet and I loved the look.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I shared the image with Frank and told him I was going to make this clock and rest it against the pallet we brought home. He said "why don't you just paint the clock right on the pallet". Hmmmm.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
OK!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6IBq9stFwog/T2KUG2okkQI/AAAAAAAAA-k/a8cx3Rm8PZ0/s1600/Screen+shot+2012-03-15+at+8.49.24+PM.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6IBq9stFwog/T2KUG2okkQI/AAAAAAAAA-k/a8cx3Rm8PZ0/s320/Screen+shot+2012-03-15+at+8.49.24+PM.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Above is my "plan" for the project and our living room wall, can you visualize it? Isn't it Cool?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zch0M88YGqE/T2KU1RtjpVI/AAAAAAAAA_8/HvUENL7yuS0/s1600/IMG_0419.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zch0M88YGqE/T2KU1RtjpVI/AAAAAAAAA_8/HvUENL7yuS0/s320/IMG_0419.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So we got to work, Frank got to play with his Sawzall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
He removed the lower part of the skid for me. While he was doing that I was prepping my masks to make the painting easier.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--7rTaWo-S3c/T2KUqsjcm_I/AAAAAAAAA_k/qcC_2l_0NhI/s1600/IMG_0422.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--7rTaWo-S3c/T2KUqsjcm_I/AAAAAAAAA_k/qcC_2l_0NhI/s320/IMG_0422.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the part 1, the background colours.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Gf1xPJhi_1g/T2KUnoYhfRI/AAAAAAAAA_c/N5E9ZmJWGRk/s1600/IMG_0423.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Gf1xPJhi_1g/T2KUnoYhfRI/AAAAAAAAA_c/N5E9ZmJWGRk/s320/IMG_0423.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used Annie Sloan Chalk paint as the base colours, the center is Old White and the outer section is mainly Louis Blue with some Paris Grey. I didn't go for complete coverage since I wanted the distressed look to come through. Once the paint was down I slowly peeled back the mask.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Yv65UqChgIU/T2KUkKnaUuI/AAAAAAAAA_U/IaE2TS72Trc/s1600/IMG_0424.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Yv65UqChgIU/T2KUkKnaUuI/AAAAAAAAA_U/IaE2TS72Trc/s320/IMG_0424.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here she is, what do you think so far? I do not know what I was thinking from here on as I do not have any photo's of the steps. So next I painted the border, and numbers with black acrylic craft paint. I used my Silhouette to cut my masks. It was a little tricky, since I had to tile the image to get the size. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Once the painting was complete we drilled a hole in the center of the board for the clock motor to come through. The hands are a little small but they were the best I could get without ordering online and waiting for them to arrive. I'm on a roll and I'm not waiting baby!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-S3VBQjVQc3U/T2KUMYhrs9I/AAAAAAAAA-s/dve7iKT7Sz4/s1600/Skid_clock.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="211" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-S3VBQjVQc3U/T2KUMYhrs9I/AAAAAAAAA-s/dve7iKT7Sz4/s320/Skid_clock.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is her first reveal, we had a problem with the hands so I purchased a better set and movement from Lee Valley. Next I painted the boards to mount the hangers and lanterns to.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Frank painted over a sign we had already to fit our colour scheme and we decided it looked so good we would put it over the clock on the sofa wall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-juidxpKpB2M/T2KU5pO__6I/AAAAAAAABAE/E-HRG0nqs-U/s1600/IMG00425-20120315-1434.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-juidxpKpB2M/T2KU5pO__6I/AAAAAAAABAE/E-HRG0nqs-U/s320/IMG00425-20120315-1434.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Today Frank put it all together on the wall, I am so happy with it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Cool eh?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RZLcCDYS-QA/T2KUcsNrSfI/AAAAAAAAA_E/sr9f4Mmum5A/s1600/IMG_0426.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RZLcCDYS-QA/T2KUcsNrSfI/AAAAAAAAA_E/sr9f4Mmum5A/s320/IMG_0426.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's an evening shot with the candles lit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FQScSfKtsn0/T2KUP8Nd5yI/AAAAAAAAA-0/KmEilGDYyN8/s1600/IMG_0431.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-FQScSfKtsn0/T2KUP8Nd5yI/AAAAAAAAA-0/KmEilGDYyN8/s320/IMG_0431.jpg" width="310" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really like the shadows these lanterns cast.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wish I had a before photo but I hated the wall so much I didn't want any evidence.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L36LVv5ETlM/T2KiQs8yb7I/AAAAAAAABAQ/chbfayj4DBg/s1600/Print.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-L36LVv5ETlM/T2KiQs8yb7I/AAAAAAAABAQ/chbfayj4DBg/s320/Print.jpg" width="264" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is the print that was on the wall, it looked lost on the wall and just did not suit our decor anymore (I'm not certain it ever really did). I sold it on Kijiji to a nice couple who picked it up last week. Yay!</div>

What the heck have I been up to lately? It's been over a month since I have posted. I haven't completed many projects lately either. I suck! I guess I have been spending too much time obsessing on School Houses and what I want to do when I grow up (I'll post more on that later)<br />
<br />
I have blogged about my love of Renovated Schoolhouses <a href="http://muddaritaville.blogspot.ca/2011/04/my-schoolhouse-obsession.html" target="_blank">before</a>, recently my obsession has been on overdrive! As I type this post I have started a board on Pinterest for my <a href="http://pinterest.com/joanne_mudd/school-houses/" target="_blank">School House</a> love. If you go to that board you will find links to some of the recent Real Estate listings below.<br />
<br />
This one is a beautiful reno north of Cookstown, it's only one bedroom though. I fell in love with her about 3 years ago. I keep looking to see if she comes on the market again.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aEMbvkks6R4/T8a3WUXqfJI/AAAAAAAABEc/qNnv1PTwMq8/s1600/DSCF0004.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aEMbvkks6R4/T8a3WUXqfJI/AAAAAAAABEc/qNnv1PTwMq8/s320/DSCF0004.JPG" width="240" /> </a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Isn't she adorable!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1E3kl3YkyMg/T8a3XUuaMyI/AAAAAAAABEk/XwxB336Z2Ag/s1600/ResizeImage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1E3kl3YkyMg/T8a3XUuaMyI/AAAAAAAABEk/XwxB336Z2Ag/s320/ResizeImage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">The next one is a gorgeous restoration in Paisley Ontario and she's for sale ...</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ksjeXDqVexg/T8a9M4MfG2I/AAAAAAAABE0/uESS4BIqcMc/s1600/Screen+shot+2012-05-30+at+8.36.14+PM.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="237" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ksjeXDqVexg/T8a9M4MfG2I/AAAAAAAABE0/uESS4BIqcMc/s320/Screen+shot+2012-05-30+at+8.36.14+PM.png" width="320" /></a></div><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">Here is the link for this great place <a href="http://paisleyschoolhouse.ca/">http://paisleyschoolhouse.ca/</a><br />
The owner lovingly restored her. She put in some amazing Barndoors.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">We recently went to look at this School in the Haliburton area. Yep, the bell still works.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Frank wanted to move here because there is an amazing bakery across the street. Their Tarts are to die for! Her's the link to their blog <a href="http://thelittletartbakery.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">- The Little Tart</a> </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Here is another one that is listed right now ...</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4W5KZomq_OI/T8a9drGlcSI/AAAAAAAABFE/J0uRIe3H-s4/s1600/outsideFRONT_01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-4W5KZomq_OI/T8a9drGlcSI/AAAAAAAABFE/J0uRIe3H-s4/s320/outsideFRONT_01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />

I really appreciate the nomination and the motivation since I haven't blogged in over a month. I've been a lacking in motivation lately and I hate admitting it.<br />

<br />
Ok 7 things about me ...<br />
<ol><li>I taught disco dancing at a health club when I was 18.</li>
<li>When I was in high school I had a ski membership at Horseshoe Valley resort, every weekend I would get up at dark-thirty to catch the first bus in front of my house and take it to the local subway station where I would catch a grey hound bus and take it to the resort, just so I could ski. I would do this both Saturday and Sunday every weekend of the winter.</li>
<li>I had a summer job working at a Baldwin Piano store in Scarborough. I was filling in for Lawrence Gowan who was taking time off to tour with his first band, Rhinegold. No, I never met him in person. </li>
<li>In 1997 my girlfriend Cyndi and I were asked to join a Bar Pool League in Mississauga, the team that recruited us needed "beginners". We were told there was a good chance we could go to Vegas for free. Our team won the local finals 2 years in a row so we went to the Vegas tournament. What a great time! If I remember correctly the 2nd year in Vegas we were voted friendliest team ... kinda like Miss Congeniality.</li>
<li>I might regret sharing this one, my dad's nick name for me when I was little was Dopey Jopey. I was a very naive little girl and a little unsure of myself (maybe it was those round pink glasses they made me wear). I shared this nick name with my friend Cyndi after a few cocktails once and she has called me DJ ever since.</li>
<li>I went to a special high school for Vocational Arts, it was 2 credits in grades 9 and 10 and 4 credits for 11 and 12. I didn't continue with the program for grades 11 and 12 since I really wasn't sure if I wanted a career in the Arts. </li>
<li>I was very athletic and competitive when I was younger. I was a figure skater when I was in school, I even went back to it in 97 when I joined an adult Precision Skating Team. I also played in a lot of racquet ball tournaments in the 80's, my mother was my doubles partner.</li>
</ol>Thanks Barb from <a href="http://turtlesandtails.blogspot.ca/" target="_blank">Turtles and Tails </a>again for nominating me. <br />
<br />
If you were nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award, here are the rules:<br />
<br />
<ol><li>Thank the person that gave you the award in a blog post.</li>
<li>Include a link to their blog.</li>
<li>Pass the award on to 5 bloggers you follow. (it was 15 but I reduced it to 5 to take a little less time)</li>
<li>Include 7 random things about yourself in your post.</li>

The final reveal of our entranceYay! It's done. Actually it's been done for a couple of weeks but I put up blogging about it so I could reveal over at <a href="http://funkyjunkinteriors.blogspot.com/2012/02/sns-link-party-122-featuring-picture.html" target="_blank">Funky Junk Interiors SNS 122</a>.<br />
<br />
So, here's where we started ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-krOnWLAKHMQ/TyQ_V2MMA9I/AAAAAAAAAw0/h-vGWDmhW4U/s1600/IMG_0176.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-krOnWLAKHMQ/TyQ_V2MMA9I/AAAAAAAAAw0/h-vGWDmhW4U/s320/IMG_0176.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"> Isn't it pretty? I knew the open hanging rack had to go from the day we moved in.<br />
<br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8-GMg8I76Ag/TyRBOd8OMdI/AAAAAAAAAxE/NdsuAwO-Xqk/s1600/IMG_0186.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8-GMg8I76Ag/TyRBOd8OMdI/AAAAAAAAAxE/NdsuAwO-Xqk/s320/IMG_0186.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">This is what it looked like once inside the house looking back at the entrance porch.<br />
<br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ihbYpF9pY5Y/Ty7ssZexndI/AAAAAAAAA0Q/ppWsQaRhVUs/s1600/IMG_0184.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ihbYpF9pY5Y/Ty7ssZexndI/AAAAAAAAA0Q/ppWsQaRhVUs/s320/IMG_0184.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OK4hr6NKdOs/Ty7sj5mxtHI/AAAAAAAAA0E/vkva4u7GE2A/s1600/IMG_0291.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OK4hr6NKdOs/Ty7sj5mxtHI/AAAAAAAAA0E/vkva4u7GE2A/s320/IMG_0291.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>And this is the new light.<br />

What a relief, it feels so great that this project is now complete.<br />
<br />
We started this project December 2010, I blogged about the FIRST reveal <a href="http://muddaritaville.blogspot.com/2010/12/we-can-see-end-in-sight.html" target="_blank">here.</a><br />
<br />
In March last year I blogged that I was not happy with the original finish, that post is <a href="http://muddaritaville.blogspot.com/2011/03/one-day-soon-we-will-finish-project.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />
<br />
I won't keep you in suspense, here is the final reveal ... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MIvK5bpwr3I/TzVlWtlJMSI/AAAAAAAAA3w/D0dPmrnSKrY/s1600/FauxBrick.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MIvK5bpwr3I/TzVlWtlJMSI/AAAAAAAAA3w/D0dPmrnSKrY/s320/FauxBrick.JPG" width="304" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
Now, back to November 2010 ...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6p4mgvCxRiQ/TNIKyV42ueI/AAAAAAAAAHg/1PV0dh1YjNY/s1600/Stove.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6p4mgvCxRiQ/TNIKyV42ueI/AAAAAAAAAHg/1PV0dh1YjNY/s320/Stove.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YbCSrcgSAVg/Tzb-LygVDzI/AAAAAAAAA4A/a2F1tjzOwuQ/s1600/IMG_0319.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />
</a></div>First we primed the wall with white primer. After the primer was applied I came across some faux brick wallpaper, we considered just putting up one of these and calling it a day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zs0OmS6hL98/TzVlaGyu8eI/AAAAAAAAA1k/qmuVOgwxEyQ/s1600/DSCF0004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Zs0OmS6hL98/TzVlaGyu8eI/AAAAAAAAA1k/qmuVOgwxEyQ/s320/DSCF0004.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br />
We were back and forth about the wallpaper for a week. Rather than discussing anymore Frank got to work creating the brick. He applied drywall compound to the wall and the bulk heads. As he applied the compound he let it set for a bit then he would carve the brick shape out. He used a large flat head screwdriver to carve the mortar lines. We did not want perfect bricks, we wanted it to look old. If you want a more uniform look you can paint your wall the colour that you would like your mortar lines then tape out the brick pattern, then start to apply the compound. Make sure you remove the tape before the compound dries!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PtQqpWi-KDU/TzVla3Tx6VI/AAAAAAAAA10/s6e_YOFbfq8/s1600/DSCF0002-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-PtQqpWi-KDU/TzVla3Tx6VI/AAAAAAAAA10/s6e_YOFbfq8/s320/DSCF0002-2.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Above is the wall with the drywall mud applied to it.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dpq7mWQTJvI/TzVlbMChGNI/AAAAAAAAA18/Qw-oCjM85Fg/s1600/DSCF0003-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dpq7mWQTJvI/TzVlbMChGNI/AAAAAAAAA18/Qw-oCjM85Fg/s320/DSCF0003-2.jpg" width="271" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">This is a closer look.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GUmEuvK9zGk/TzVlcdSbJFI/AAAAAAAAA2M/Vdet_8kkESU/s1600/DSCF0003-3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GUmEuvK9zGk/TzVlcdSbJFI/AAAAAAAAA2M/Vdet_8kkESU/s320/DSCF0003-3.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">This is the 1st reveal of the wall all painted.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Something wasn't right, I kept playing with the paint but just couldn't get it to where I wanted.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yttlOWts0oM/Tzb97z-cYuI/AAAAAAAAA34/4F84TmEVD_4/s1600/BrickSample.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="251" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-yttlOWts0oM/Tzb97z-cYuI/AAAAAAAAA34/4F84TmEVD_4/s320/BrickSample.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I searched the internet and found this image, this is the beachy brick finish I wanted.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DVglKQPwKmc/TzVld56KxvI/AAAAAAAAA2Y/TaBcI7RMDQA/s1600/DSCF0001-2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-DVglKQPwKmc/TzVld56KxvI/AAAAAAAAA2Y/TaBcI7RMDQA/s320/DSCF0001-2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Frank to the rescue again, he painted the whole wall white, then sponged a mixture </div><div style="text-align: center;">of greys with hints of warm brown paint to the brick. Sooo much better!</div><div style="text-align: center;">The only thing needed now is some added shape and shadowing. </div><div style="text-align: center;">The mantle shelf is painted with ASCP Old White here, after this picture was taken I sanded the shelf to distress it then applied clear and dark wax to give it an aged look.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YbCSrcgSAVg/Tzb-LygVDzI/AAAAAAAAA4A/a2F1tjzOwuQ/s1600/IMG_0319.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YbCSrcgSAVg/Tzb-LygVDzI/AAAAAAAAA4A/a2F1tjzOwuQ/s320/IMG_0319.jpg" width="238" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Here is the completed wall! Yay! </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><i>Update to this post, the cost to complete the final look of this wall was less then $50. 1 pail of drywall compound $12, we already had a gallon of Behr Swiss Coffee paint with primer which was used to seal the compound and as our base colour for the finished wall, the brick colour and shadows were done using small bottles of acrylic craft paint from Michaels</i>. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><i>We had done this on a smaller scale in the past, we did a back splash in a previous home. When done as a back splash make sure you protect it with a sealant if water will be splashed on it (can't remember what we used)</i><br />

It's really sturdy, I had a vision of it becoming the perfect entrance bench. It's so darn pretty I was torn when it came to painting it (not!)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HivDPPxON8k/Ty7sADWdSPI/AAAAAAAAAzA/n24GVIcKWQc/s1600/IMG_0177.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="158" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-HivDPPxON8k/Ty7sADWdSPI/AAAAAAAAAzA/n24GVIcKWQc/s320/IMG_0177.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
After sanding the top, the top was painted with Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, Louis Blue then I added this phrase that was cut using my Silhouette Cameo. The navy blue is vinyl that is being used as a mask that will be peeled off after the next layer of paint...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IfOagND63pc/Ty7sFHEnepI/AAAAAAAAAzQ/pyeDNs3ngAE/s1600/IMG_0203.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IfOagND63pc/Ty7sFHEnepI/AAAAAAAAAzQ/pyeDNs3ngAE/s320/IMG_0203.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We also removed the doors. Relax ... it's going to look great!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H4czF8jdXz8/Ty7sHTbw-RI/AAAAAAAAAzY/bpGp-I1cWJo/s1600/IMG_0205.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-H4czF8jdXz8/Ty7sHTbw-RI/AAAAAAAAAzY/bpGp-I1cWJo/s320/IMG_0205.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here is it after being completely painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Graphite, then I peeled off the vinyl so the Louis Blue could show through.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rnVEZNNLm7I/Ty7sSpqh0FI/AAAAAAAAAzs/m4JyqD-jRG8/s1600/IMG_0294.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-rnVEZNNLm7I/Ty7sSpqh0FI/AAAAAAAAAzs/m4JyqD-jRG8/s320/IMG_0294.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Then I distressed the whole table/bench, and waxed it with Annie Sloan Clear wax, I also used a small amount of dark wax over the exposed wood areas to give them a richer look.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s4BkMoTHoIQ/Ty7sPvTw5UI/AAAAAAAAAzk/cX9XJbudsoo/s1600/IMG_0293.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s4BkMoTHoIQ/Ty7sPvTw5UI/AAAAAAAAAzk/cX9XJbudsoo/s320/IMG_0293.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here she is in her final glory! As you can see it was made for this area, there isn't an inch to spare.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I added the baskets which we are using for Buddy's leash, our gloves, mitts and other items that used to end up on the shelf above.<br />

Wanna see a before shot? Are you sure, it's scary.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-krOnWLAKHMQ/TyQ_V2MMA9I/AAAAAAAAAw0/h-vGWDmhW4U/s1600/IMG_0176.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-krOnWLAKHMQ/TyQ_V2MMA9I/AAAAAAAAAw0/h-vGWDmhW4U/s320/IMG_0176.JPG" width="240" /></a></div>Isn't it welcoming? I have been following so many amazing blogs, many that have these gorgeous entrances that are white and bright. I yearn for that fresh, white, beachy entrance way!<br />
<br />
Here's the stage we are at now ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mHzp3oBSfHA/TyRAUkig6BI/AAAAAAAAAw8/yx41CNbxHTo/s1600/IMG_0240.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-mHzp3oBSfHA/TyRAUkig6BI/AAAAAAAAAw8/yx41CNbxHTo/s320/IMG_0240.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
It's taking a little longer, there is tons of caulking to be done and another coat of paint. The entrance bench that I have been working on needs a little more distressing and a coat of wax. We have hooks to go up under the shelf and also there are blinds that need to be installed.<br />
<br />
Previously the windows looked like this ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8-GMg8I76Ag/TyRBOd8OMdI/AAAAAAAAAxE/NdsuAwO-Xqk/s1600/IMG_0186.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8-GMg8I76Ag/TyRBOd8OMdI/AAAAAAAAAxE/NdsuAwO-Xqk/s320/IMG_0186.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />
I had "shopped the house" and reused these white sheer panels to cover the windows, you know, to get that breezy tropical look. Can't you just feel the <strike>warm tropical breezes</strike> ummm, cold wind now?<br />
I picked up some very <strike>cheap</strike> reasonably priced blinds on Friday, they are just white vinyl slats that I will eventually replace with white wood blinds. I don't like the look of the tops of most <strike>cheap</strike> lower priced blinds so I made valances with fabric I picked up a while ago. Geez, talk about being resourceful since I don't have a sewing machine. I used fabric glue ... I was high on fumes yesterday!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1LUHrLPdJKw/TyRDLANtJNI/AAAAAAAAAxM/EnU6N1jRDjM/s1600/IMG_0220.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1LUHrLPdJKw/TyRDLANtJNI/AAAAAAAAAxM/EnU6N1jRDjM/s320/IMG_0220.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I ironed the edges</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fO_1b5ldRE8/TyRDc2x3DdI/AAAAAAAAAxU/ak2aHbQD-pc/s1600/IMG_0222.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-fO_1b5ldRE8/TyRDc2x3DdI/AAAAAAAAAxU/ak2aHbQD-pc/s320/IMG_0222.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Then glued and stuck down, I do love how fast this works, so much faster then fabric tape.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jniD4YwB_VE/TyRD8Z62PUI/AAAAAAAAAxc/H3LU4QYR9ig/s1600/IMG_0226.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-jniD4YwB_VE/TyRD8Z62PUI/AAAAAAAAAxc/H3LU4QYR9ig/s320/IMG_0226.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">I added dimes to the bottom corners to add a little weight.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ke17ALWPD2g/TyREkQQ6aZI/AAAAAAAAAxk/7rSjfRzQDa4/s1600/IMG_0228.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Ke17ALWPD2g/TyREkQQ6aZI/AAAAAAAAAxk/7rSjfRzQDa4/s320/IMG_0228.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;">Then I attached the rings to the tops. The final reveal will have to wait til completion of the room.<br />
I also made one pillow cover in the same fabric and using fabric glue, I have one more to make. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

Boy life gets in the way! I took a week vacation and got sick so didn't accomplish much that week. Then I'd hoped we could tackle the project this weekend but then Frank got sick. I just could not go back to work tomorrow and have another weekend with nothing done so I'll show you what I did get done.<br />
<br />
The project is our entrance porch. I believe the entrance of a home reflects the energy of it. Given the current condition of our entrance it's no wonder I feel scattered, confused and unorganized!<br />
<br />
There is an open coat rack in the entrance which I have disliked since we moved in. The goal is to paint the paneling, remove the hanging rack, replace with hooks, create a bench to sit and put shoes on, declutter and accessorize.<br />
<br />
Last year we picked up this sturdy coffee table at our local 2nd hand store, it's going to make the perfect entrance bench. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lbQnOQA5aj4/TxylewlY_pI/AAAAAAAAAvc/pNnBxxPjh_4/s1600/Table_before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="158" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-lbQnOQA5aj4/TxylewlY_pI/AAAAAAAAAvc/pNnBxxPjh_4/s320/Table_before.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>Isn't it pretty - NOT! but I have a vision. I cropped this photo so you wouldn't see ALL the mess but I think you get the idea.<br />
<br />
Last week Frankie took the doors off for me and filled the holes where the hinges were. Yesterday I gave her a quick sand to remove some raised areas I'm assuming were caused by slight water damage.<br />
Then the painting and personalization began ...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Qjjx2F1ojc/TxynVE9eQxI/AAAAAAAAAvk/WnXnZSMF2-o/s1600/Table_during.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="177" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-2Qjjx2F1ojc/TxynVE9eQxI/AAAAAAAAAvk/WnXnZSMF2-o/s320/Table_during.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>That's it for the progress report, the bench needs to be distressed, waxed and toned still. I'm also really hoping we can get the paneling painted this week and put the hooks up. Have a great week!<br />

<br />
I read Layla's post on her Word for 2012 and I thought ... oh, that's a good idea, but I don't have the time or energy to think of a word for myself. I let it go after that.<br />
<br />
I had been noticing posts from other bloggers with their Words but I really had no intention to come up with a word for myself.<br />
<br />
I know I want change in 2012, I know I want to be more creative and accomplished this year but I don't need a Word for that ... Do I?<br />
<br />
Monday night our internet kept acting up and I decided I really wanted to do something creative. So I decided to whip up a little sign, nothing special, more of a quick little project. I had a piece of wood that already had a base coat of paint on it so I thought I would use it. I painted a word on the sign, once the paint was dry I distressed it (a little too much if I do say so myself) and then I gave it a coat of clear wax. Then I put the sign on the kitchen counter where it stayed until tonight. I looked at the sign from a distance and felt the white lettering was too bright so I decided to tone it down with some dark wax, then I took a quick pic with my iPhone and I sat back down. Yes, I'm a little slow to "get it" some times. I glanced back at the sign and realized ... OMG!!! That's my word. Little ol me has a WORD! I belong! I'm not lost. What is my word ... INSPIRE. What better way to achieve all that I want.<br />
<br />
I was INSPIRED by all of you to actually wake up and participate in this Party!<br />
I hope to INSPIRE others by achieving my creative and physical goals this year.<br />
I am INSPIRED by so many amazing women, and this year I will acknowledge each and every one.<br />
